Why Eggs Benaddicted really is worth the hype

It was only a matter of time before I caved. Eggs Benaddicted kept popping up on my For You Page with the kind of relentless regularity that can only mean one of two things: either it’s overhyped, or it’s genuinely that good. As someone who considers eggs Benedict a personality trait, there was no way I could resist finding out for myself.

Spoiler: it’s that good.

First come, first served (and worth the wait)

Eggs Benaddicted sits on the Prinsengracht and has become one of the brunch addresses in Amsterdam. They don’t take reservations – it’s strictly first come, first served. That means if you turn up at peak brunch o’clock, you’ll probably find a queue. But don’t panic – the line moves quickly, and trust me, it’s worth sticking it out.

Inside, the place hums with energy: plates flying out of the kitchen, cocktails being whisked to tables, staff weaving through the crowd with impressive precision. It’s cosy, a little artsy, and always buzzing, but never in a way that feels chaotic.

Service with a smile (and speed)

The staff deserve their own round of applause. They’re lightning-fast when it comes to service, but still manage to make you feel like you’ve had a proper chat. Professionalism with warmth – that’s hospitality at its best.

And while we’re on the subject of hospitality: if you’re a Bloody Mary fan like me, do yourself a favour and order one here. Ask for it spicy and you’ll get it spicy – the kind of eye-watering, sinus-clearing heat that makes you sit up straighter. In other words, perfection.

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs

The menu is, as the name suggests, a love letter to eggs in all their forms. Think classic Benedicts, sunny-side-ups, omelets – the full breakfast-to-brunch spread.

But of course, I had to try one of their signature Benedicts. I went for The Forest Benaddicted: two perfectly poached eggs perched on homemade brioche, layered with smoked duck breast and mushrooms, then blanketed in silky hollandaise. It was indulgent, earthy, and – most importantly – delicious.

The husband went for the Roast Beef & Eggs: warm slices of roast beef topped with two sunnyside eggs, chimichurri, and caramelized onions. Comfort food on steroids. And the portions? Enormous. These are plates that set you up for an entire day of exploring Amsterdam (or possibly just rolling yourself home for a nap).

Beyond the Benedict

If you’re not in an egg mood (do those people exist?), the menu still has your back. Fluffy pancakes that could double as pillows, vibrant green shakshuka, homemade gravlax, proper English Breakfast and even vegan-friendly options like the Aubergine Delight. Drinks-wise, they’ve got it all covered: great coffee, fresh juices, cocktails, wine, and beer. Basically, no excuse not to find something you love.

The verdict

I can’t believe it took me this long to finally go. Eggs Benaddicted is one of those rare spots that actually lives up to the hype. Between the buzzing atmosphere, the stellar service, and food that feels both indulgent and satisfying, it’s no wonder the algorithm shoved it under my nose until I gave in.

So, trust the feed. Queue up. Order the Benedict. And maybe don’t schedule lunch.
